The University of British Columbia was established in 1915. It has two main campuses – in Vancouver, and at Kelowna in the Okanagan valley. The university is also home to 17 Faculties, 14 Schools, and 2 Colleges.

According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2017, UBC was ranked 40th worldwide.

62,923 students are enrolled in the University of British Columbia, with 52,464 undergraduates and 10,459 graduates. Approximately, 22% students (14,434) are international.

Today, the university offers around 500 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Its programs in Architecture/Built Environment, Business & Economics, Social Sciences and Physical Sciences are particularly attractive to students from around the world. The UBC Sauder’s Robert H. Lee Graduate School admits MBA students on a rolling basis for their 16-month full-time MBA program. November, January, February, and May are the usual deadlines.

The application form is online. Applicants must also pay non-refundable fees of approximately 140 CDN. The admission requirements for the MBA are: recognized bachelor’s degree, 550 GMAT or 150 GRE, English language proficiency test results, and a minimum of two years full-time work experience. Applicants must also submit two references, essay answers, and a resume. The final document deadline for courses beginning next year is May 31, 2018. Shortlisted applicants are invited for an interview. The tuition fees for the full-time MBA program 75,000 CDN.

The UBC Sauder School of Business awards financial aid and scholarships to 25-40% of its MBA class. Each applicant is automatically considered for scholarships awarded by the School. A number of factors are considered – work experience, academic achievement, business drive, and essays. Scholarships offered by UBC Sauder include the Hari Varshney MBA Entrance Scholarship and the Madhu Varshney MBA Entrance Scholarship.

The Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia well known for its program offerings. The Department offers not just undergraduate but also masters and doctoral programs based on research. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master of Engineering (M.Eng). The M.Eng. program offers concentrations in Communications, Computer Systems, Energy Production, Micro/Nano Electronic Systems, Signal Processing, and Software Engineering.

To apply, students need to submit an Official Transcript, CV, Statement of Purpose, English proficiency exam, GRE score, GPA calculation, and three letters of support. The application process is online. The annual tuition fees for international students is 18,901 CDN. Additionally, students should allow between 14,000 – 19,000 CDN per year for living expenses as Vancouver can be an expensive city.

Application deadlines are January 15 and June 1.

The University of British Columbia also offers an MSc in Craniofacial Science (Dentistry). Students can major in one of three concentrations – Research in Population Health, Oral Health related Clinical Research, Basic Science Research. The program is of a three-year duration. Tuition and related costs are approximately 11000 CDN per year.

The deadline for applications is February or March for entry in August/September.

To be eligible, the candidates must have an average of B+ in their bachelor’s degree. The Faculty of Graduate Studies’ website lists academic requirements by country. Additionally, the applicants must submit TOELF or IELTS scores, 3 reference letters, 2 copies of university transcripts (and, if applicable, 2 copies of the degree certificate).
