  1. University of Alberta - M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering

    This program is administered jointly by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. As with other graduate programs, it is mandatory that students consult with supervisors before making an application. Prospective candidates are required to submit transcripts, English language test scores, reference letters, etc. The tutors decide whether they’re willing to accept an applicant, supervise their research, and fund their student. A supervisor must agree to work with a student, only then can a formal application be made.

    The deadlines for submission of materials by international applicants (except for those from China and Nigeria), are July 1 for September entry, November 1 for January entry, March 1 for May entry, and May 1 for July entry. The tuition fees for the program are 8790 Canadian dollars a year.
  1. University of British Columbia – M.Eng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering

    The M.Eng. program offers concentrations in Communications, Computer Systems, Energy Production, Micro/Nano Electronic Systems, Signal Processing, and Software Engineering.

    To apply, students need to submit an Official Transcript, CV, Statement of Purpose, English proficiency exam, GRE score, GPA calculation, and three letters of support. The application process is online. The annual tuition fees for international students is 18,901 CDN. Additionally, students should allow between 14,000 – 19,000 CDN per year for living expenses as Vancouver can be an expensive city.

    Application deadlines are January 15 and June 1.
  1. Simon Fraser University – MASc in Mechatronic Systems Engineering

    The minimum requirements for admission include a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, engineering science, or a related area, with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (B average) from a recognized university, or equivalent. All the international students must submit scores of their English language test.
    This postgraduate course requires the student to complete 30-semester hours of work with a minimum of 12 semester hours of course work, plus a thesis with a weight of 18 semester hours. The tuition fee for the the 2017/18 year of admission was CAD 1,835 per term estimating the entire cost of living including the tuition to be around CAD 9,283 per term.

    The deadlines for applying to this program are: January 15 for Fall semester start; June 14 for Spring semester start; September 15 for Summer semester start.


  2. University of Toronto – MASc in Applied Computing
    This is offered both as a general program and with concentration in Data Science. To be eligible, the candidates must have an appropriate bachelor’s degree in computer science, with an average grade of B+ and above, TOEFL scores of 580 and above on the paper tests, three letters of reference, and a statement of purpose.
    The course also includes an eight-month industrial internship. There are also several funding opportunities available.


  3. York University – MASc in Civil Engineering

    York University offers a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering with specialization in areas like Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Water Resources.

    The program is of a 2-year duration and has both Fall (September/October) entry as well as a Winter (January/February) entry. Application deadlines are in January, May, and September. Applicants must submit a completed application form, course transcripts, cover letter, CV, two confidential letters of recommendation, and proof of English language proficiency.

    The course fees are approximately 7,300 CAD per term.
