Venture for India (VFI) in collaboration with Columbia Business School, has launched a scholarship program, which will see 15 students (to be known as ‘VFI Fellows’) selected for an opportunity to take part in a 3-week entrepreneurial workshop at Columbia University in New York City. Following this, participants will receive a 2-year guaranteed job placement, with companies which have indicated high growth potential in India. The VFI Fellows will also be part of a mentoring program conducted by top management at their company of placement.

The aim is for a substantial proportion of VFI Fellows to become successful entrepreneurs, preferably rooted in the communities to which they are assigned. VFI’s purpose is job generation – their immediate goal is to generate new Indian jobs by helping companies expand and training a critical mass of their top graduates who will then go on to become business builders and job creators.

The program will be led in New York by Dr. Jack McGourty, Director of Community and Global Entrepreneurship at the Columbia Business School and a faculty member teaching graduate courses in entrepreneurship, innovation and technology management.
