BrainGain Magazine is organizing an online essay competition for high-school students. Details are below:


Students of grades 8 through 12

Enter the BrainGain Essay Competition!

Any student studying in class 8-12 can participate. Each student can send in one entry.

Essay Competition Topics:

  • When you look back on high school someday, what will you remember fondly? What will you wish to forget?
  • If you were a college admissions officer, what qualities would you look for in prospective students?
  • Should students evaluate their teachers? If yes, how?
  • "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school" Discuss.

A few tips

  • Have a clear focus, and a message for a clearly defined target audience
  • Keep your essay realistic
  • Be constructive and forward-looking
  • Should be 350 to 600 words long

So hone your essay writing skills, and get ready to pit yourself against the best brains in high schools around the world! The three best entries will win exciting prizes. Top 5 entries get a chance to be featured on BrainGain Magazine.


Entries will be judged based on these criteria:

  • Originality and creativity of idea
  • Style, Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation and Composition
  • Organisation and Structure of the Essay
  • Creativity and Originality
  • Focused, clear, and error-free writing

  • No application is required
  • One entry per student
  • At the top of the first page, include your name, age, class, email, and the name and town of your school
  • Entries must be in English
  • Entries must be original and unpublished
  • Entries must be 350 to 600 words long
  • Please send your essay through the 'Submit Entry' tab only
  • Entries to be submitted in Word / PDF format only
  • The judges' decision is final
  • Once submitted, entries will become the property of the organizers
