After a family illness prevented 30 years old Isha from completing her undergraduate degree in India, she took up a role in the auto trade industry, where she worked for 12 years. Having forged a highly successful career as a Business Development Manager, Isha worked with multinational car brands like Mercedes and established links with politicians, MDs, and other influencers in the industry.

She says, “I had a fantastic career for many years but getting a degree was always in my mind – I had unfinished business! A lot of countries don’t allow you to study for a master’s degree without an undergraduate qualification so I was delighted when I discovered the UK accepts students from lots of different backgrounds.

I learned about the different universities and courses available to me, from a well-known study abroad agency, and this gave me a good idea of what to expect at university and the options available to me. Later, I met Stirling Management School’s Professor George Burt who was in India recruiting new students. Professor Burt’s expertise and enthusiasm was infectious. I realised immediately that the Stirling course would not just include theoretical knowledge but would help me enhance and polish the practical business skills I had already gained. He explained the process of taking the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) so I could study in Scotland, and before I knew it, I was here.

Coming from the capital of India alone to the quiet, beautiful campus at Stirling was a big change. The way the lectures are delivered is so engaging, and every day I am improving my business skills and learning something new. It’s very important to me that the knowledge I gain at University relates to real life. Through the course, I have had a chance to meet and engage with inspiring global business leaders from a variety of industries and get practical advice about how to shape my future career.

The people at Stirling are very generous and helpful and the Faculty support staff make life very comfortable and ensure everything is easy to access. I’m enjoying student life and being surrounded by so many happy, lively students.

The University of Stirling has made my dream of studying for a degree come true. It’s a very warm and welcoming environment for anyone who is studying for the first time. Stirling has shown me that it’s possible to do what you’ve always wanted. Everyone brings different skills and experiences and if you want to get a postgraduate qualification and make it possible, you can do it.
