Microsoft's New Indian CEO Satya Nadella

Hyderabad born Satya Nadella takes the reins at Microsoft, replacing CEO Steve Ballmer. A study-abroad veteran, he has worked with the company for 22 years.

Yesterday saw the announcement of Hyderabad-born and raised Satya Nadella as CEO of Redmond, Washington based Microsoft.

Nadella holds a BA in Electrical Engineering from Mangalore University, a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

Most recently the Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise grup, Nadella has also led the company’s Online Services Division. He has also worked as a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems.

Microsoft quotes him as having said, “[Many Companies] aspire to change the world. But very few have all the elements required: talent, resources and perseverance. Microsoft has proven that it has all three in abundance.”

An avid learner, Nadella has also said that ‘Knowledge’ is something that defines him – and has spoken of his passion for online learning via MOOCs. He is also passionate about cricket and enjoys poetry.
