Kendall College Awards Presidential Scholarship to Indian Student

Kendall College offers quality programs in business, hospitality and early childhood education. Earlier this month it awarded the annual Presidential Scholarship to Indian student, Ashrit Abhinav Sundar. Read more below.

Kendall College has awarded Aashrit Abhinav Sundar, of Bengaluru, India, the institution’s Presidential Scholarship following a final interview with Kendall President, Emily Williams Knight.The scholarship will cover 50 percent of the program’s total cost. The scholarship is in recognition of outstanding academic merit and an exceptional commitment to the field of culinary arts.

Kendall College, founded in 1934, and located in Chicago, Illinois, offers a Presidential Scholarship to one international student each academic term. The students must demonstrate superior academic achievement and passion for their area of study.

The College offers undergraduate degrees in business, culinary arts, early childhood education and hospitality management. The curriculum combines strong academics with practical experience and international educational opportunities to give students in business, hospitality and culinary arts programs the skills and expertise to be leaders in their professions. 

Kendall College has was ranked No. 1 in Chicago for preparing students for careers in hospitality management and culinary arts in a survey of hiring managers at Chicago’s leading hotels and Michelin Guide restaurants (TNS Global - 2013 Survey). 


 

Sundar was accepted to the Kendall College School of Culinary Arts and began classes at Kendall College in Chicago in October of 2015.  He is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Baking and Pastry.  

“Throughout his life, Aashrit has demonstrated a passion for the hospitality and culinary industry and a drive to build a remarkable career in the field of baking and pastry,” said Knight. “Having completed his hospitality management degree in India, Aashrit now wants to take his love for baking and pastry and attend one of the best programs in the United States.” 

“Aashrit is confident, driven, and passionate about his field of study,” said Knight. “It is clear that he is a leader and he is an example of the type of student that will thrive and lead the industry in the future.  We are honored that he has accepted a place in our growing network of outstanding students, graduates, faculty, staff and partners.”
