Getting a job is a serious issue. The interview is often the toughest part – a potential employee has to impress the person in front of them - their future boss – and they’re quaking in their feet. What if the scenario was not like that at all? What if the person in front of you was looking for a confident employee, and not the typical scared new hire? Here are our top tips to handle your interview in a New way:

  1. Dress Well – Never show up to an interview wearing a pair of jeans unless your profession is such that it requires a much more casual outlook. In any case make sure you’re cleanly dressed and looking smart. Scruffiness is a first and terrible impression.

  2. Be Confident – When you walk into that room, walk in with a smile. Show that you are friendly and open to a good conversation ahead.

  3.  Know your Stuff – know what you are supposed to know about the company. No one wants to hire a person who just walks in with a pleasant smile and hand shake of a friendly nature. That won’t be enough. Make sure you’ve done your research and understand how the company works and what they might expect from you.

  4. Have an Opinion – but don’t make it too strong – if you’re someone with an opinion on how you could contribute or make things better then maybe your chances of hiring are going to get a little better. But don’t be so opinionated that you strike the interviewer as being arrogant. Remember when you’re looking for a job, you are also looking to learn.

  5. Ask Questions – make sure you’ve got plenty of questions, and aren’t afraid to ask.

With a little extra effort you can walk in and make a great long-standing impression!
