Announcing BrainGain Magazine Essay Competition Winners 2018

We received many great entries which made it tough to pick the top three essays. Congratulations to our winners!

A big ‘thank you’ to all those who participated in the BrainGain Magazine Essay Competition. We received a huge number of submissions, and our panel of judges had a tough time picking out the best three from among so many great entries.

We know you’ve been waiting to hear the results, so here they are. Congratulations to our winners!

  • First prize - Paridhi Puri, Ahlcon International School, Delhi. In her essay, Paridhi provides a well-articulated and structured opinion on the pros and cons of social media.

  • Second prize - Shaoni Chakraborty, Army Public School, Barrackpore. Shaoni’s essay was well-researched and provided a deep sophisticated understanding of social media and its advantages and disadvantages.

  • Third prize - Vandita Bhartiya, Modern School, Vasant Vihar. Vandita’s essay focused on the benefits of gap year and how it gives you the opportunity to self-learn and self-actualize by delving into activities that are of interest to you.

The first, second and third prizes were Redmi Y1 Smartphone, TomTom Touch Cardio Fitness Tracker and Kodak Portable Bluetooth Speaker respectively. The prizes were distributed to the essay competition winners on February 10, 2018 during the BrainGain Magazine “Study Abroad Information Session” for students, parents and teachers.

The information session is a unique platform for interacting with the representatives of leading foreign institutions. During these annual student sessions, distinguished academics from leading institutions share insights into topics such as getting into Ivy League schools, Oxbridge; planning for higher education in the U.S.; MOOCs; writing great resumes, and appearing for interviews, financing studies abroad, the importance of grades and test scores; role and benefits of standardized tests; secrets of entrepreneurship, and more.
