St Mary’s workplace learning programme allows you to gain work experience that is relevant to your degree and career goals. There's no need to register for an extra year, you can take part in workplace learning as part of your degree and earn academic credit.

Our workplace learning module is available on most undergraduate programmes and also on our MSc International Business Management programme.

We work with over 200 companies in London to ensure that your placement is practical, worthwhile and will help you improve your career opportunities. Our Centre for Workplace Learning works with you to find placements that reflect your personal and professional requirements. You can work in a range of organisations including local schools and charities, small enterprises, international brands and professional sports clubs. It is a great chance for you to get work experience living in London, the world’s financial capital.

Our specialised modules, including those focussing on Business, Sport, Entrepreneurship, Education and Leadership enable you to develop your professional practice in the field, as well as build an understanding of the workplace, of your own strengths and of the attributes required to work in your chosen sector. 

You will attend workshops, take part in creative challenges, work on virtual scenarios, undertake psychometric testing and practice your presentation techniques while gaining an understanding of how the theory you learn at university translates into practice.

Making the most of your time in London

During your time in London you will also have the opportunity to work up-to 20 hours a work during term-time and full time work out of term time dates meaning that you will have the chance to earn some money and build up your CV. A lot of our students also undertake internships during their summer holidays to gain valuable work experience.
