According to The Times Higher Education (THE) 2014 ranking of the world’s top universities under 50 years old, East Asia's institutes dominate.

South Korea takes two spots in the top 3 - in top spot for the third consecutive year, is South Korea’s Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech); and in third place is the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

“The data prove that nations can, in a matter of years, with the right support and vision, create world-class universities to compete with traditional institutions that have had many centuries to develop,” says THE rankings editor Phil Baty.
