These 4 high value scholarships will fall within the university’s Vice Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarships that were instituted in 2014. Each year 4 students are awarded the scholarships across key disciplines. Starting in 2019, the university will partner with 3 Indian organisations to offer a full-fees waiver for the duration of study to Indian students. The STEM Scholarships will be awarded in partnership with Indian pharmaceutical giant Biocon, the Sports Scholarships will be awarded with Rajasthan Royals, and the Creative Arts scholarships will be awarded in collaboration with Times Network. A fourth scholarship will be available for any of the subjects offered by Deakin at the undergrad or the master’s level.

Since 2014, 19 students have won the scholarships. The eligibility requirements are as below:

Undergraduate: More than 85% in 12th Indian Board Examinations & extracurricular achievements.

Postgraduate: More than 80% in undergraduate degree & significant achievements in co-curricular activities.

Applicants must also meet English language requirements for their specific course.

Professor Jane den Hollander AO, Vice-Chancellor & President, Deakin University, said, "The collaboration with Indian organisations for the Vice Chancellor's Meritorious Scholarships is an important bridge to enabling more and more students to study abroad and gain from international experience. We have established over the past 25 years a deep engagement between the University and organizations in India across areas of mutual synergy. In the coming years, these very themes will be extremely crucial as the requirements for skills and knowledge undergo rapid transformation. My best wishes to all the potential applicants for their endeavours as they embark on their journey towards futuristic learning."
